Tiny Collage Boxes

Ever wonder what to do with the tiny metal boxes you get embellishments in? They are just too cute to toss.
~
Using Alcohol Inks on the cover, paint on in several colors and layers for deep rich color.
~
Cut out PID image and decorate with words, stickers, or rub ons as you like! Gently push under metal lip into place inside lid.

A great little box for a small gift or trinket.

Make TAP™ Transfers with Sheers

Make TAP™ Transfers with Sheers
By Lesley Riley Resource: Quilting Arts Magazine

TAP
Are you TAPing yet? Transfer Artist Paper, or TAP, is the latest technology in iron-on transfer paper from Lesley Riley/fabric•ologie.

With TAP, once the image is transferred it is fused into the fibers of the fabric and becomes part of the material. You can iron on it, paint on it, even wash it.

TAP
When you transfer onto a sheer fabric, such as organza or scrim, you must place a piece of fabric under the sheer material to catch the excess inks that will migrate through these more open weaves during the transfer.

But that's a good thing!

space holder

TAPLayering the sheer fabric with the TAP transfer directly over the “catch” fabric adds a remarkable depth to the original transferred image.

In my sample, I used plain muslin as my “catch” fabric, but you can create an assortment of effects using colored or even printed fabrics.

A shadow effect can be created by slightly offsetting the sheer layer over the background fabric.

Try TAP on Paper Too!

TAP isn't just for fabric. It works on paper too.

Recycled Pesky Plastic Card Tutorial

Some basic supplies you'll need (really these are a "possibilities are endless" type project...so the list could go on and on)

Plastic Cards (either junk mail offers or spent gift cards)
Awl (or anything you have to poke a hole)
Blade/Scissors
Ruler/shape stencil
Earwires (if you wish to make earrings)
Adhesives (glue stick, xyron....your preference)
Pretty papers
Paper Imagery Designs images
Embellishments
Ink Pad/Marker

I used some pesky plastic cards to make some pretty earrings and embellishments (you could also make pendant or a charm bracelet, etc). I just scored with a box cutter and ruler and then snapped my one inch square pieces. I used a circle stencil and scissors for the circle pieces.

Then I used adhesive to cover the plastic pieces in pretty papers and trimmed with scissors.

I then added beautiful images from Paper Imagery Designs and poked a hole. I edged them with ink pads or black marker. For this simple pair I added just an ear wire...instant earrings.

I made some others with beads and wire wrapping.....they are a fun sturdy base that you can do whatever you like.

I also made some to have just to add as fancy accent embellishments to other ART like ATCs, collages or a greeting card.

Hope everyone will enjoy this project. I just love that it uses something that is free and needs to be recycled. Plus I'd rather spend my ART money on Images and Embellishments anyway.

Gesso Resist Tutorial by Eileen

I love quick and easy background techniques for my ATCs and other paper projects. Here's one you'll want to try.

Supplies:
Gesso
Foam Brush
VersaMark™
Clear Embossing Powder
Heat Gun
Silhouette Stamps
Two or three coordinating ink colors
Make Up Sponges
Paper Towel
Sheet Music or Magazine Page

Directions:
Pour a little gesso directly onto the sheet music. Spread it all over with the foam brush. You may need more than one coat. You want it slightly opaque, but you don't want to completely cover the print.
When the gesso is dry, stamp your image with Versamark, cover with clear embossing powder, and heat set.

Using the make up sponges, first rub the lightest ink all over the page. Repeat with the next darkest ink, then the third, if using three. In this example I used two shades of green.
Take a paper towel and rub all over the page. The Versamark stamped image will resist the ink and it will come off, making the image really pop.

Now you can cut the page into the sizes you want to use for your projects. Here's my ATC background:

And here is my finished ATC, using PID collage sheets 579 and 596:

Kewpie ATC's Using PID supplies!

Kewpies on Parade!
I wanted to share with you four more ATC's from the Kewpie Swap I took part in at Paper Imagery Designs. You have to make 5 and you get 5 back. These 4 atc's are a bit different then the one I posted a week ago and are more 3 dimensional, I just had to share this project with you, so you can make some as well.
Queen Bee Kewpie 5!Queen Bee Kewpie 2!
Materials:
-Chipboard slab sheet (perfect for ATCS)(PID)
-Paper Imagery Collage Sheet(PID): Kewpies #246
-Scrapbook paper of choice
-Dresden trim: light Blue German Foil Scrap(Serrated Border)(PID)
-Stickles: Tiara color (PID)
-Fine silver glitter
-Tacky Tape 1/4 thickness (PID)
-Blue green Tulle Scraps
-Acrylic paints: cloud, black, yellow
-Lettering to read: Queen Bee Kewpie
-Hot Glue, hot glue sticks
-Regular glue stick
-Needle and thread

Directions:
1. Measure 3 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches onto the chipboard slab, cut, make a total of 5.
Then roll a few coats of glue using a regular glue stick to on side of the cut chipboard, place onto scrapbook paper of choice, trim to fit cut chipboard.
2. Either paint stripes to back ground or leave alone.
3. Cut out Kewpie images, glue to a piece of scrapbook paper, re-cut, set aside.
4. Now cut 5 strips of tulle into 2inch thickness, then Thread a needle with ordinary threading, and quickly slipstitch the long side of the tulle together to form a skirt. (See image for example)
5. Attach sewn tulle to Kewpies, one at a time. Then hot glue to the scrapbook covered chipboard, using hot glue.
6. Peel back tacky tape and place along the border of the base cut, sprinkle with silver glitter, gently tap off excess. If not use tiara stickles in place of the tacky tape and glitter.
7. With a pencil outline the head of the kewpie and the upper body. Draw a bodice. Fill in the bodice with stripes of black and yellow paint to form a bee pattern. paint in outlined head top with yello paint, add antennah's if desired.
8. Embellish with dresden trim, lettering and more glitter.Queen Bee Kewpie!Queen Bee Kewpie 4!
Tips and Tricks:
-Replace Tulle with Crepe Paper
-Instead of making an ATC, turn your Kewpie and tulle piece into a doll, attach to a wooden block.
-Use Rangers Sticky Back Canvas as the background instead of the scrapbook paper. You can find the STicky Back Canvas on the Paper Imagery Website (PID)

I hope my Kewpies inspired you to make a batch of your own.
