Spring Wall Hanging
It may seem a little early for some of you to be thinking of Spring but here in Florida the temps are already hitting the 80's. Here is a 6 x 6 wall hanging that I made for the occasion.
Blank 6 x 6 wooden wall hanging
Gesso
Acrylic Paint
Crackle Medium
Distress Ink
Alphabet Stamps
Flower Stamps
Sequin Waste stencil
vintage dictionary page
optional fine grit sand paper
small tag
Image Sheet Liselle # 562
Clock Transparency # 192
Bird Nest Sheet # 434
Bird Image
Butterfly Image
Beads + Wire for Hanger
1) Sand and gesso the wood blank and paint with acrylic paint . Brush on a coat of crackle medium and let dry. Paint over crackle medium with a contrasting color of acrylic paint. A thick layer of acrylic paint will give you large crackles. A thin layer of paint will give you a fine crackles.
2) Cut out all images and stamp words onto a piece of vintage sheet music or a dictionary page. Arrange your images, moving them around so you can find the most pleasing composition. Put images aside for now.
3) Take a dictionary page and cut a pile of very narrow strips. I used the page where the definition of spring was so all of my little strips have words symbolic of spring.
Layer the strips of paper on the lower half of your wood blank and glue down with a glue stick.
4) Stamp three or four flowers onto the background using either ink or acrylic paint. I used acrylic paint on mine but you may use a permanent ink if your not comfortable stamping with paint. Draw in some flower stems and leaves with a permanent marker.
My flowers look a little bright for my background at this point so I took a piece of fine grit sand paper and lightly sanded some of the paint down to give it a more distressed look. I then brushed a light layer of gesso over the top portion of my background.
5) Use your sequin waste as a stencil using distress ink in your color of choice to fill in some of the empty background.
6) Glue the word time to a small tag and distress.
7) Once your happy with your background glue down your images and outline them with charcoal pencil if you desire.
8) Place the small tag with the word "time" down on your background. Glue it down then place the clock transparency over it with the tag showing through in a clear area of the transparency. Glue the transparency down using a glue that dries clear.
9) Glue the words down and highlight key points such as the "A " with a circle of gesso.
10) If you desire add some small dots around the edges and along the sides of the wooden blank
11) Twist your wire through the holes at the top and string some beads on it and your done.
Thanks for looking !

Think Spring!
Oh the weather here in Las Vegas has been gorgeous! Spring like weather makes you feel so good! Flowers blooming, the smell of fresh cut grass and windows open to let in the fresh mountain air. Just wanted to add that all the materials used here can be found at Michaels. Right down to the 3-d cards. Of course PID images are not sold there yet! LOL!!! The metal words are silver that I painted black. The Easter picks, garland, flowers and Easter trinkets are there also! HAVE FUN!!!
So in honor of Spring.....

Grunge and Copper
Hi, everyone!
Want to have some fun? Get the Grunge....board that is!
First prepare your sheet of copper from PID. You can add more embossing with a stylus or other metal tool. An old tracing wheel used in sewing works great!
Lay the copper on a sheet of chipboard and trace. Edge your chipboard with a permanent marker of your choice. I use black.
Cut strips of heavy duty/redline adhesive and apply to edges of the copper. Remove tape backing and add to the chipboard.
Using Distress Inks add color to your Grungeboard butterfly wings. Apply a stamp in black ink when dry. Using a glitter glue, put a thin line around the edge of each wing. Sprinkle with the glitter.
A large bead is used for the bigger body with 2 pieces of wire run through the middle and curled for antennae. The smaller one has seed beads threaded on the wire and curled at the ends.
Use large glue dots to adhere the 3 pieces of both butterflies to the copper. Rhinestones were added to the center of the flowers.
It's addictive. Get the Grunge.....board and paper. Both very cool!

I found this cute st Patricks day nursery rhyme on the net. It is to the tone of Mary had a little lamb..
I used a lot of german scrap, love that stuff!
I cut a scalloped edge out of metal sheets for the front and then traced the inside of the slideholder to another piece of metal and cut out the parts where the glass had to go.
All images come from sheet # 477

Mad Tea Party Assemblage! By Lisa Kettell

This is a great recycling/green project using a square jewelry box, PID images, and scrapbook paper!
Materials:
-A square jewelry box 6 inches by 4 inches
-Ashley and Alexis Collage Sheet #449 by PID
-Rosia Collage Sheet #452 by PID
-Jacob Collage Sheet #565 by PID
-Vintage piano paper or vintage writing paper
-Olive green card stock
-Various scrapbook papers
-Crepe paper in colors of choice
-Velvet ribbon, trims
-Light Blue German Foil Scrap by PID
-2 tiny wooden block pieces
-4 foam dots
-Model Magic
-Acrylic paints
-Various glitter
-Hot glue, hot glue sticks, glue stick and tacky glue
-Scissors and decorative scissors
-Other: Sequins, chipboard letters, holiday berries or pearls, lettering
Directions:
1. Cover the inside of the jewelry box with a piece of piano or writing paper, attach with glue stick.
2. Next cut out 4 images from the collage sheets, with glue stick, layer onto olive green cardstock, cut out again. This gives your images more durability.
3. Cut out a 5 inch by 1 inch piece of olive green card stock, and a 5 inch by 2 inch piece of scrapbook paper. Fold the scrap book paper in half. Set aside
4. Now Attach all for cut out images to the center of the box using foam dots, this will give your assemblage dimension. In between the 2 center images on the box,hot glue the 2 wooden blocks down. Then hot glue the folded scrap book paper onto it. To do this put some hot glue underneath the top folded section of the scrap book paper, attach to top of wooden blocks, secure with more hot glue underneath the next folded part, this will form a table.
5. Layer the 5 inch by 1 inch scrapbook paper onto the top of the table. Finish decorating the table and with folded crepe paper, dresden trim, and glitter.
6. To decorate the collage images, make a simple crown shape, hot glue ends together, then glue to image and base. To make the top hat, roll a small piece of paper together to form a cyclinder, then using the lid of your glue stick, trace a circle from it onto cardstock, cut in half, glue the cyclinder shape to image and base, then the two circle halves to the top of the hat and bottom, to form a top hat. For the bunny ears, draw a basic bunny ear shape onto card stock, cut out and attach to image. Decorate all with various glitters.
7. To make the tea and cake decorations, roll out a ball shape from model magic for the tea cups and pot, then roll out a snake shape, attach. For the tea pot lid, roll out a smaller ball, and attach to pot to form a lid. For the Cake, roll out 3 different ball shapes, layer on top each other. For the cupcake, roll 2 different ball shapes, layer a small strip of crepe paper around the ball to resemble the liner, then place the next ball ontop, add a tiny ball for cherry, Decorate all with acrylic paints and glitter.
8. For the curtains accordian fold 2 strips of scrapbook paper and hot glue to side of jewelry box, with an inch over the jewelry box. Next cut 2 small strips of velvet ribbon measuring 2 inches long, hot glue 2 inches down from top.
9. Cut out another piece of scrapbook paper of choice 10 inches by 2 inches, cut one long side with decorative scissors, bend/arch a bit hot glue ends around the top of accordian curtains. Now roll out a cyclinder shape from olive green card stock, measuring 3 inches, hot glue to to center of jewelry box.
10. Finish decorating the box with sequins, chip board letters, lettering, holiday berry, crepe paper, arylic paints and glitter.
Tip:
-Use small wooden tea set in place of the model magic tea set, or use tea cup images.
-Use various pieces of Dresden trim from PID in place of the velvet.
-Try accordian folded crepe paper in place of the scrapbook paper.
The possibilities are endless for this project.

Accordion Fold by Gabrielle Madsen
Accordion Fold by Gabrielle Madsen
Supplies:
1 sheet of 12 x 12 double sided, printed paper.
1 piece of 81/2 x 11” cardstock for ATC backing cards cut into ATC sized cards~2-1/2 x 3-1/2 inches. You will have 9 pieces. Supplies for inking, distressing, sewing is optional, ribbon and pewter rosette brad for creating the ribbon band.
Fold in half and then in half again.
This is how it looks after folding.
Fold at each side in towards center fold.
The folded and unfolded sections
This fold creates the ‘pocket’ for the ATC’s
This is how your Accordion fold album should look at this stage.
Ruler shows placement 3” from top edge
This shows the cut section. Please fold over and glue the sections underneath the exacto knife (the underside) to hold together.
I stitched the outer pocket edges to hold the cards. I vary between stitching or gluing. When gluing you will need narrow (under ¼” double sided adhesive)
Ribbon band is created with ribbon secured with a pewter brad.
I used the adorable Jade # 559 Collage sheet for my images. If you cut out the four corner images they are the perfect size for mounting onto an ATC background. I sanded, distressed and inked overtop of the images. There are, of course, endless options for these little cards. Mounted inches, twochies……this is the second time I have created this Accordion album with PID images and there are many options for beginning with one collage sheet and creating a theme of your choosing. I am going to try this with St. Paddy’s Day #479 next!

Wire attached with brads through the front of Mary Beth. The backs of the brads help to secure the wires. All of this will be covered up with the wing support structure. I use a strong double sided adhesive.
Photo with everything attached and covered.
