My Sanctuary by Pam Barnes

My Sanctuary is an 8 by 8 inch page for a round robin book I am working on with a nature theme. The background is created with gel medium and a napkin. Script stamp is stamped with nights of navy ink...second impression.
I have collaged additional flowers onto the branches using gel medium.
I have created a spirelli frame around Avery's face and sat him on a bird.
My Sanctuary is stamped. Embellished with blue german scrap.

Weekly Challenge: Red & Blue

I decided to do something a little different (for me) for our weekly challenge. Instead of my usual paper piece, I did a red and blue necklace, using an old game piece, and the lovely image of Liselle (collage sheet #562). The background was done with two shades of blue alcohol ink, and I used some red German scrap (also available from the PID shop) as trim and embellishment.

Weekly Challenge and Background Technique

Here is a 4 x 4 I made for Angies Red & Blue Challenge this week. Isn't Jacob such a sweetie pie?

I love the way my background turned out on this. Here is how I achieved this layered look.
First I glued a piece of music sheet across the bottom of a 4 x 4 piece of water color paper. I then put a layer of gesso over it. Once it was dry I painted the background red. Be sure to let each layer dry completely. Then I pulled out a couple of small plastic stencils and dry brushed over them with a blue paint on my background. Using a light hand just skim the brush bristle across the stencil allowing it to fill in some areas of the stencil and leaving some uncovered with the paint. After the paint dried I stamped the numbers along the top and bottom. I then stamped a triangle along the sides with blacksoot distress ink.

Then I dry brushed some streaks of black paint all over the 4 x 4. When all the paint and ink was dry I glued my images on and added a border along the top and bottom, drawing the small triangle border with a black marker.

Add some shading along the edges of some of the images with a charcoal pencil.

Thanks for looking!

Arlene

Jacob Inchie

This inchie has a piece of chipboard as a substrate for strength. I ran a piece of metal through the Cuttlebug and cut to fit the chipboard. It had a small square in the middle begging for a little picture. Jacob #564 came to mind.
~
I used double stick tape to attach and added alcohol ink with a brush for effect. Sand off top layer of color with a sanding block. It looks like an old tin ceiling.
~
Jacob was added with Diamond Glaze and a layer over top to encase him
forever! This makes getting a good clear picture of him very difficult. Sorry. The black rose was glued for a bit of flare.

Shimmering background technique

This is a very easy technique with great result!
Needed:

Photo printpaper
Embossing inkpad
stamp
shimmering mist

You can make your own shimmering mist by adding a very small amount of perfect pearls to a mister filled with water,or for color, filled with water and a few drops of Distress ink refiller.
Stamp the image with embossing ink onto the photo paper. Let dry.
Generously spray the shimmering mist on the stamped and dried images. Now you will see the embossing ink will act as a resist to the watery mist.

Leave to dry. You can use your heattool for drying the mist quickly but i find it changes the color a bit ( and not for the best) so its better to be patient.

Using two colors of shimmering ink will leave for a prettier result.

This is a skinny ( 3x5 inch) i created with this background. In the background i used more stamps from the Michelle Ward series by Stampington Clearly Impressed.
The cute boy is named Jacob (#565)

Faux Silk Background Tutorial by Eileen

This is an old favorite of mine, and requires a few basic materials that I'm sure everyone has.

Materials:

tissue paper

rubber stamps

stamp pads

white glue (I used Perfect Paper Adhesive; use what you have!)

cardstock

Stamp your images on the tissue paper. I started with a textural background stamp, then stamped over it with some leaf images. I used earth tones for this. But try it with any colors you like.

Gently crumble up the tissue paper and even more gently flatten it out again. You don't want to tear it, but you also don't want to get rid of all the wrinkles. Cover the cardstock (I used a neutral beige color) with the white glue. Spread it all over. Press the tissue paper into the glue, making sure it is well adhered, but letting some of the wrinkles remain. Allow the glue to dry. You can help this along with the heat gun if you're impatient like me!
Trim away any excess tissue paper. Cut to the desired size and use in your project.

I used my faux silk background for this piece:

I used PID sheets: Bella 102, Birds 226, and Mushrooms.

I used Tim Holtz Idea-ology hardware (also available at the PID shop): jump ring, philosophy tag, trinket pin

All the stamps, ink and cardstock are Stampin' Up.

Variations: Cover the tissue paper with another coat of white glue. If you use one with a glossy finish you'll get a different look. After the glue dries, spray the piece with some glimmer mist.

So close to Valentines Day the Paper Imagery Designs Design Team was asked to create some wonderful ART using Glitter, Valentines theme and lots of LOVE!!
They did a wonderful job just wait till you see what they have created!!

Primitive Valentine Tess Tag By Gabrielle Madsen

To make your primitive tag:
Add the following ingredients to 1 cup hot water; 4 TBLSP each  of coffee granules (instant) and Vanilla extract.  ¼ tsp cinnamon optional.  Add more coffee crystals as desired to darken.  I  Fragrance is purely optional but apple pie scent is fun.    Soak manila shipping tags for about 30 or so minutes.  Drain and dry as desired.   A warm iron on low will flatten warped tags.
The tag shown has a very delightful fragrance of chocolate, coffee and just a little hint of cinnamon and apple pie ;o}  This tag is not made from the recipe supplied.
The background was stamped with Purely Pomegranate ink SU using  Basic Grey flourish stamps.  The word love (stamp unknown) was stamped with Black Staz On ink.
A clear tape transparency was created from the Black ‘n White Paper stamp of Tess # 208 and attached over the inked background.  Various ribbons, trims, brass colored wing, heart stamped onto music paper and glittered star and stamped paper button were all attached as indicated.

Tess Glitter Challenge

Altered Valentines Art By Ursula Vondeling

Supplies:
Wooden picture frame black
Collage Image O'Connor #151Ink

Tim Holtz distress ink walnut stain, frayed burlap,
ephemera from an old cash register

Clear gel tacky glue
Scrap pieces
Sand paper
white glass marker
Rusty Heart shape from Rusty Tin-
Adage ticket from Tim Holtz
Stamped letters
Metal corner embellishment

First start with sanding the wooden picture frame and give it some scratching to give it a used look
then write the quote on it with the white pen after writing it go over it with some walnut stain ink to make it softer.
Than make the backside, for the back side I used an old piece of wooden board and glued a piece of an old cash register on it
and glued the Tim Holtz ticket (use some ink frayed burlap to make it old) and the rusty heart on it.
Cut out the O'Connor's and cut it in two and glue one on the left and one on the right bottom of the board.
From some scraps I made the hats and put the stamped letters on them.
Finally stuck the metal embellishment on there and the backside is finished.
To give it some dept make a wooden frame from 1 1/2 cm thick to put in the frame first and stick the finished wooden board behind it .
Now you're piece is finished.

Enjoy!!!

Supplies:
Wooden plate with heart shape cut out of it
Collage Image Avery #458

First start with sanding the wooden frame and paint it with gesso.
After painting it sand it again and put on some black ink by running the ink pad over the frame in one direction.
Stamp the stamps in the corners of the frame and color them with the pink marker.
Glue the ephemera in the other corners and use some ink on the sides to age them.
Glue the heart shapes in the upper right corner and the collage Image in the lower left corner and make a hat from some scrap paper.
Then attach the letters on there and with the Quickie glue pen trace some letters and throw some glitters on it the glitters will only stick on the glued parts.
To give it a grubby look use the mahogany and black Ink on the sides.
