Bolo-Style Tie for Father’s Day
Waxed cord (about 30”)
PID Collage Images – sheets #216, #339
Glossy Accents (Ranger)
Two seed beads, two decorative beads (from your stash)
Find a masculine image to cover the bamboo tile. I like the map on collage sheet #339 and the doorknob/keyhole on collage sheet # 216.
Using the bamboo tile as a template, trace around the image and cut it out.
Glue the image onto the bamboo tile using Glossy Accents, making sure the edges are well adhered.
Cover the image with a layer of Glossy Accents. I just squeeze a little blob of it out and smooth it over the entire image with a finger tip.
When dry, assemble into a bolo tie:
Thread one end of the cord through both holes on one side of the tile and the other end through the holes on the other side.
Find seed beads that fit on your cord but aren't loose. These beads will allow the wearer to adjust the tile as desired. Put one on each side of the cord and after making sure there will be room for the tie to fit over the head, knot under each seed bead.
Then add your decorative beads and knot again.
To wear, put the tie over the head and move the tile to the desired position. Push the seed beads up to just below the tile.
Variation: You can wrap foil tape around the edges of the tile for a metallic look, but I like that my version is so fast and easy.
