Valentine Ornaments by Miz Carla

Hi Everyone!

I'm one of the new designers for Paper Imagery Designs. I'm VERY excited about getting to play with all the fun PID stuff, as well as getting to know all of the PID blog readers and group members. I made some very quick and easy Valentine ornaments that I'd like to tell you about.

The base for these are those fun little wooden shapes you find at Michael's or Hobby Lobby. They are usually .25 each (can't beat that!) They make a wonderful surface for collage, and all you have to do to prep them is pull off the sticker (which actually sounds easier than it is--that's some kind of super-sticky glue they use on those things!)

Begin by painting your ornament. Front, back and sides. Search through your papers and find 2 or 3 coordinating colors. Cut papers to desired size and adhere to the wooden shape with glue (I prefer a wet medium and use perfect paper adhesive). Once everything is dry, go in and add some details with acrylic paint. I like to "frame" the papers with a painted border around the ornament. Add your image to the center (this little cutie on the egg shaped ornament is from PID's "Avery466 sheet). To finish...add letters cut from an old book to spell your message and then drill a hole(s) in the top to fashion a hanger from wire. The final touch was adding a small wooden heart covered in glitzy silver glitter.

PID products used on the heart shaped ornament are cool black german scrap and an image from the Valentine Vignettes sheet.
