For this technique you may use a blank background or one that has already been painted. Keep in mind that some of the paint or background color may show through. This is a good thing and will add another layer of texture to your background.

Step 1: Smear a nice layer of glue on your background. I am using Goldens Soft Gel. You can use whatever glue you have on hand. Each glue behaves differently so you may get a different look depending on the glue.

Step 2: Apply your vintage papers in a random pattern or use one piece to cover the entire background. Allow glue to dry.

Now the fun begins.

Step 3: Trim up the over hanging pieces of paper on your background and apply your masking tape. Keep in mind where you will be putting your focal image. The textured background could interfere with your image.

Step 4: Burnish the tape with the bone folder.

Step 5: Pull tape from your background.

Let’s see what you can do with this weeks technique. Upload your creation to the Technique Thursday folder at the Paper Imagery Designs Yahoo group.

I will draw a name from all of the participants in two weeks when I post the next technique and the winning name will win the ATC above! Good Luck and I'll see you on the group!
