PID August Design Team Challenge

In the July/August 2009 issue of Somerset magazine there was a color challenge. The artist used tangerine, aqua, berry and black. I thought this would be a fun for our designers; they can do anything!

Wanda Hentges created this ATC using our Isabella image. She used specialty papers to create the background, tearing and gluing them in place. Isabella's dress was colored using pastels and a damp paint brush to blend her colors.

Wanda was having so much fun with this challenge she created another piece on a panel canvas. The background was masked first and painted with a variety of techniques mixing the paints with gesso to create a softer palette. The circles that she has on the panel were made using the end of her glue stick dipped in paint. HOW CLEVER! Mary Beth's dressed was painted using water soluble pastels.

Gabrielle Madsen had her own interpretation of this challenge she created this festive tag using our Victoria image. The tag was created using a punch and aqua paper. The edges were then shaded with a red rose ink pad. She embellished the tag with a tangerine paper flower and added her words to the tag. Gabrielle created this with the softer shades of the colors.

Once again using Victoria Gabrielle created another tag using the darker shades. The possibilities of this color combination are endless and can vary with the artist's muse. Thank you Gabrielle for showing us this variety of color!

Pam Barnes created her background using papers and stamps. Using our image Mia and adorned her with a collar that she created using paper! Pam always has a clever way of adding embellishments to her art work!

Here is a piece done by Arlene Mobley that will certainly tickle your fancy! Oh so bubbly!!! Arlene made her "bubbly balloons" by painting them with gouache watercolor paints. She then painted Susanna with them to create an entirely new image!!! Talk about color!!!

Do you love the soft and gentle vintage look? Ursula Vondeling certainly knows how to capture that look! With the combinations of paper and ink Ursula created the back ground giving it a soft and subtle look. She used our Sarah and added paper flowers for her wings and giving her pale complexion a little touch of rouge!

Our designers once again have knocked our socks off with their creations! Come join us at our Yahoo group and join in the fun with the weekly challenges, mingles and contests. We are a very friendly group and all our members are the BEST!!
